The Special Event and Entertainment industries will be undergo fairly drastic changes as a long range plan goes into effect under the Guidance of The Trinity River Authority. On Monday this week a groundbreaking was held for the new bridges called Panther Island Bridges.
This Project will actually reroute the Trinity River and create a “lake” where the river now runs. This water will remain where it is, but won’t be subject to movement, very similar to what was done in San Antonio. This will allow for Panther Island to become an island and for building to be allowed to the edge of the water creating an environment for growth. The river will be rerouted around the Panther Island and form a “RiverWalk type area.
At the groundbreaking ceremony held Monday November 10, Mayor Betsy Price said,”These three new bridges mark the first phase of major construction for Panther Island that will change the face of Fort Worth.” “The project will greatly improve connectivity for Fort Worth and enhance commercial and recreational opportunities for all.”
This is a long range plan but the bridges are now being built on dry land and then the river will be rerouted under the bridges.
This whole should become a mecca for relaxation, dining, partying, and surely special events.
